After the success of I AM HENRY, Flying Dutchman Films is pleased to announce the production of a new and intense short drama, called ‘THESSALUS & MEDEA.’

Medea, is an ancient Greek tragedy written by Euripides, based upon the myth of Jason the Argonaut and Medea, and first produced in 431 BC.

Over the centuries, the oracle Medea, has been portrayed in painting and on stage and screen. See here the 1969 adaptation of ‘Medea’ directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, and starring the famous opera singer, Maria Callas.

Medea and Jason have twin sons, Alcimenes and Thessalus. When Jason betrays Medea with the Princess Glauce, Medea sets fire to their home in an act of revenge, with the young boys still inside.

Medea flees the scene, whilst Jason dies in the fire trying to save them.

There are many different versions of the myth, however, and in our dramatic adaptation, one of Medea’s sons – Thessalus – escapes the fire alive, and confronts his mother years later to kill her, only to discover his vitriol is misplaced.

Filming begins in November 2017. More news to follow soon.
